Grand Salon at Baccarat, New York

The allure of this property really makes you feel like a celebrity, with all the glitz and glam of this swank flagship attached to the legendary French brand Baccarat. With interiors by Gilles & Boissier, this hotel exudes optimum luxury. Located in the thick of Midtown, only minutes from Radio City Music Hall, Fifth Avenue and the Rockefeller Center, this is really dining an experience not to be missed.

I experienced cocktails and caviar at the hotel’s Grand Salon restaurant, which glistened from head to toe in herringbone wooden flooring, black and white tiles, and gleaming chandeliers. The interiors are a moody affair, the restaurant foyer bedecked in fur drapes and leather sofas, blown glass ornaments everywhere; perfect for that Thursday evening entertaining. There isn't much more to desire than what is already at The Baccarat. Especially The Grand Salon restaurant and bar, where we spent our last evening in the Big Apple.

Let’s start with the tipple; the wine list was exceptional, mostly French, with a hearty selection of American wines from Oregon and California. Although the price is on the more hefty side, the guests milling about The Baccarat can definitely afford it. Anticipate tiers of Caviar, Bellinis, plates of snapper crudo and seared salmon on the menu. It really is a delightful spot.

I really cannot recommend this palace enough. Being a European in the Big Apple, it was nice to seek refuge from the hustle and bustle in a very quintessentially French spot. It is on the expensive side, though. I would recommend to dine before or after the drinks. Cocktails start at $26 and go up to $450 - so you’ll really be drinking amongst the Manhattan elite when visiting. The champagne flutes, though, are simply stunning. So at least the burn in your wallet will have you sipping in style.
