The BoTree, London

Marylebone’s newest hotel hotspot it didn't know it needed.

The BoTree, situated on Marylebone Lane, seamlessly amalgamates the distinctive charm of Marylebone, the sophisticated allure of Mayfair, and the spirited ambiance of Soho, presenting a haven for the contemporary traveler.

Embracing the ethos of 'Conscious Luxury,' The BoTree places a large emphasis on fostering a sense of belonging and delivering unparalleled hospitality, extending a warm welcome to all while minimising its environmental footprint. The realm of The BoTree is a lavish and whimsical sanctuary, adorned with quirky interiors, natural materials, and bursts of vibrant hues.

Since its grand opening in September 2023, The BoTree has gracefully settled into its new abode, making a resounding statement with its striking exterior. This establishment is earnestly striving to carve a niche as a bridge between the opulence of central London and the authentic charm of its surrounding local neighborhoods, which constitute its foundational identity. Exemplifying excellence, the service at The BoTree is nothing short of extraordinary. The check-in process, devoid of the traditional desk, sets the tone for a seamless and luxurious experience. A dedicated host caters to every floor, ensuring personalised attention that adds an extra layer of sophistication.

Nestled amidst the doorstep allure of Marylebone, with the West End conveniently within reach, Fitzrovia's internationally acclaimed restaurants, and Hyde Park moments away, The BoTree offers an impeccable vantage point for savoring the best of London. Its refined and serene spaces provide the perfect setting to unwind after a day exploring the capital, particularly at the distinguished LAVO restaurant—a destination in its own right—where an Italian menu infused with coastal sophistication awaits. Commence your evening at The BoTree Bar with a cocktail, proceed to the private screening room for a cinematic experience, and finally retire to the refined luxury of your room or suite.

Whilst the hotel presently lacks a gym and spa, an upcoming addition is underway and scheduled to open later this year.

The Rooms

The hotel's distinctiveness as a boutique establishment shines through its 199 rooms. These boast a fusion of retro art and contemporary furniture, creating a design marvel. The integration of cutting-edge technology further enhances the experience, providing functionality that is not only advanced but also user-friendly. The bedrooms offer customisable lighting options, with clearly labelled controls for brightness, dimness, or turning lights off, while amenities like Dyson hairdryers, and steamers add to the overall luxury.

For the best panoramic views, opt for a fourth-floor corner room or any located on the third floor and above. The bathroom's movie star dressing room lights contribute to a playful and theatrical ambiance, showcasing the hotel's ability to balance sophistication with a sense of fun.

I stayed in the Soho Suite, which was apparently the most masculine out of all the rooms. The suites are all named after the roads, streets, and local areas surrounding the hotel. Starting from a generous 333 square feet, even the smallest suites exude a sense of spaciousness, reaching up to a remarkable 829 square feet in the BoTree Suite.

Notably, the intoxicating pomelo fragrance permeating the entire hotel, courtesy of Jo Loves toiletries, is so enchanting that you might forego your personal perfume. In essence, this is a hotel that exudes a refreshing lack of pretentiousness, successfully captivating guests with its thoughtful design and amenities.

Dining

The BoTree is strategically positioning itself as a versatile destination, enlisting the expertise of hospitality powerhouse Tao Group Hospitality, known for their success with Hakkasan, to oversee its bar and restaurant program, featuring the renowned LAVO from Las Vegas.

News of this collaboration has spread rapidly, evident in the bustling atmosphere observed during a Friday night visit, where every table seemed to be taken. The restaurant, with its extravagant design, makes a bold statement. A colossal tree takes center stage in the dining room, seemingly aiming to infuse an outdoor, Mediterranean ambiance into the space.

Amongst the menu’s offerings, the 20-layer peanut butter chocolate cake and Wagyu meatballs are absolute must-haves. The menu's appetiser selection showcases a delightful play of textures, with a light batter embracing shrimp, squid, and zucchini, presented in an abundant portion of fritto misto. Venturing into the mains, the extensive and diverse selection tempts the palate, but one should not overlook the generously portioned, piping-hot pasta dishes – with the squid ink crab spaghetti was a personal favourite.

Indulge in breakfast either at LAVO or within the luxurious confines of your suite—we chose the latter on both mornings. Experiencing room service against the backdrop of the city's breathtaking views is a rare delight, effortlessly arranged by selecting your preferences the night before on a convenient tick list and placing it on your room's doorknob. The morning spread encompasses all your breakfast favorites and is available until 11 AM.

Thank you to the entire BoTree team for a sensational stay x
